Intune finally supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Now that Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is a supported version, I want to take the chance to show you how you can install and enroll such a device step by step.

OS Installation

Let’s start with the installation itself, I will use Hyper-V as a basis. Once you booted from the iso image, you will be greeted with the following selection, where we will select the default option to install Ubuntu:

Once it has booted, we can select our display language:

If needed configure Accessibility settings:

Select the keyboard layout:

Connect to the network:

And select, Install Ubuntu:

I will go with the interactive installation for this demo:

And go with the default settings, you can obviously modify it to your needs:

If you want / need, you can install 3rd party components. Since I’m running it inside Hyper-V, I don’t need 3rd party drivers 🙂

Again, since I’m running inside a VM, I can directly go with the erase all option:

If you want, you can directly encrypt the disk from the advanced features option:

If you enable encryption, you will need to set a passphrase that you need to enter to boot the device:

Once done, we can configure the user-, device name and password:

Select the timezone:

And finally review our settings and start the installation:

First boot:

First, we will boot up our device, type in our encryption passphrase to unlock the disk:
